Use Conventional and Statistical Methods for Porosity Estimating in Carbonate Reservoir in Southern Iraq, Case Study

Porosity is important because it reflects the presence of oil reserves. Hence, number underground reserves and a direct influence on essential petrophysical parameters, such as permeability saturation, are related to connected pores. Also, selection perforation interval recommended drilling additional infill wells. For estimation two distinct methods used obtain results: first method based conventional equations that utilize porosity logs. In contrast, second approach relies statistical making matrices dependent rock fluid composition solving (matrices) instantaneously. which records have entered equations, matrix solved in one step, porosity, volume minerals embedded inside formations were obtained. The results indicated was determined using approaches matched core porosity. end, techniques afford different path for calculation provide outcomes can be all situations, particularly when has many types components. Furthermore, not overcomes problems coming from unreliability logs containing mixed minerals.
